The second round proof looked amazing!

So...books have been ordered.

However, I don't have a lot of space to store/pack. The room I used to use for my storage/packing room now has a resident - I've adopted a kid. A teenaged kid, but still. They were in a bad home situation. They needed a place to stay and so, Guitar Kid's old room which became my default storage space is now their bedroom.

So I've ordered the trade paperbacks and will get them taken care first - I still need to spray the edges for those who requested them, which is part of why 'room' is such a problem.

I appreciate how patient everybody has been. We're moving, it's just slow!

A new proof is en route to make sure I corrected the few minor issues with the last proof. I had a few glitches with the uploading and had to play tag with the support staff at the printer's and since they're located in England and we're dealing with the holidays, things were slowed down a bit more than normal.

The hardback with dust jacket proof is in!



There are still a couple of small things...


If you see here, up at the top, the words front cover are still on the cover.  That's my fault.  I have to fix that but that's an easy fix.




The illustrations are all squared away now.



I have to order one more proof because the interior map still isn't square and I need to make sure the underjacket design is okay, but once I get it in, and it SHOULD be the last time, I'll be able to order he rest of the copies in and start working on fulfillment.

Overall, it looks great.

The color is gorgeous and the gold font/graphics look amazing.

I adore matte covers. Adore them. I think they look more elegant than glossy covers. But if you look pretty close, you can see streaks where I wiped away the fingerprints.

Yep. Everywhere I touched this pretty book, I left a print.

Sigh. So, I suppose I'm switching to glossy cover.


I did the lay-out and design for the trade cover myself and while overall, I'm delighted with how it looks, and while overall, this cover looks great as an ebook...(see below)


The shadow on the text doesn't translate well for the print cover.  So I have to adjust that.

I love how the bear graphic how the back turned out.



The interior images look amazing, for the most part, but I didn't size them well. I use a different print for my crowdfunding campaigns - the books are higher quality, etc, but it's a learning process, adjusting to a new company. Although, for me, everything is a learning process.




That faint white line is a bit of a problem I need to fix. I'll get that done.


These fixes won't take long, though, then it's just getting the big order in.

I'd hoped to have it done earlier but it is done! I expect the trade paperbacks will be fine but this is my first time doing a book with a book jacket and I learn through trial and error. I expect my first book will have an error or two, so I might have to order a second proof before I'm happy.

But the hard work is done and it shouldn't be long before I have the books in hand and can start shipping.
